The Château de la Paix in Fleurus is the most famous one in the area because Napoleon I stayed there on the night of the battle of Ligny on 17 June 1815, the night before Waterloo... Today, it houses some local authority departments. This classical style building dates from the end of the 18th century. The castle looks out on a small park and is built from brick and stone. All sides except for the façade are painted in pink.
