LOVERS' FAIR

LOVERS' FAIR
© Maison du Tourisme de Gaume

This medieval fair is a huge success in the region. In the morning, at the pavilion, the "roi du pâté gaumais", ("King of the Gourmand Paté"), is chosen. His task is to swallow as much paté as possible (very big meat pies) in as short a time as possible.
Entertainment is provided by the Virton bands and the giants d'Jean D'Mâdy and his wife D'jeanne. D'Jean D'Mâdy, who actually existed, is well known for his practical jokes and adventures, and the tales that have been told about him during many evening gatherings have become bigger and better with each generation. He symbolises the free spirit and traditions of the Gaumais region.
In the afternoon, the playful and cultural game of the "Just Married Trophy" will take place. This is for newlywed couples who stand to win many prizes.
